Abbeville General is now offering Monoclonal Antibody (Outpatient) Infusion Therapy for COVID patients meeting criteria. This therapy is being offered Monday-Friday at the hospital. 

Referral can be made for any patient who is considered higher risk by criteria listed below or by consideration of benefit-risk for an individual patient by the referring healthcare provider. The patient must also have a positive COVID-19 test result within the past 24-48 hours.

Higher risk is defined as patients who meet at least one of the following criteria:

 Are ≥ 65 years of age
 Have a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25
 Have chronic kidney disease
 Have diabetes
 Have immunosuppressive disease
 Are currently receiving immunosuppressive treatment
 Pregnancy
 HTN or Cardiovascular disease (including congenital heart disease)
 Chronic lung disease (for example, COPD, asthma [moderate to severe]. Interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension)
 Sickle Cell disease

Once it is determined that a patient meets criteria for this therapy the patient signs the consent in the provider’s office and a referral is then sent to the Abbeville General EUA Infusion Center.  The patient will be contacted to schedule an appointment for therapy.
