Abbeville General will begin a new in-patient hospital based medical stabilization service on June 24th. New Vision is a service that treats the withdrawal and medical complications associated with dependency on alcohol, narcotics, and other drugs. Medical stabilization is provided to patients who are physically dependent on alcohol, prescription, and illegal drugs. New Vision screens the individual, and if appropriate, facilitates an admission. Once admitted, the nursing staff and a physician medically stabilize the patient during the acute stages of withdrawal, which usually takes three days. A discharge plan is then developed and a referral is then made to a residential or outpatient chemical dependency treatment program, depending on the patient’s needs. For more information, please contact Charli Derouen or Rachelle Batiste with New Vision at (337) 892-6860 or at abbevillegh.la@specialcorp.com.
