$5 million proceeds were acquired through the issuance of Sales Tax Bonds for the purpose of constructing a new Behavioral Medicine Center that will also be fortified to withstand 190 mph winds thus able to be utilized as a Safe Room during a Hurricane disaster. Also being constructed from these proceeds is a permanent facility for the Erath/Delcambre Community Care Clinic.
On November 17, 2015, the Board accepted bids for the issuance of a $5 million Sales Tax Bond. The successful bid provides a 10-year pay-out term with a 2.0% effective interest rate.
Of the $5 million in proceeds from the bond issuance, $3.2 million will be utilized to construct a new Behavioral Medicine Center that will be able to withstand 190 mph winds thus able to be utilized as a Safe Room during a Hurricane disaster. The total budgeted cost for this construction is $6.4 million, with FEMA providing $3.2 million in matching grant money. Construction is estimated to begin in the 3rd Quarter of 2016.
The remaining $1.8 million of the Sales Tax Bond will be utilized to construct a permanent facility for the Erath/Delcambre Community Care Clinic, thereby replacing the present modular building. The new clinic will mirror the Maurice Community Care Clinic. Construction is estimated to begin in the 2nd Quarter of 2016. This investment shows Abbeville General’s commitment to serve the healthcare needs in the Erath/Delcambre areas within our service district.
